NADA Delegation Meets With Stakeholders; Engages Extensively With The Highest Authorities

A delegation led by NADA Automobile Association of Nepal (NADA) Chairman Dhruba Thapa recently met with Hon'ble Minister for Forests and Environment Ramsahay Prasad Yadav and discussed the implementation of Nepal Vehicle Pollution Standard (BS6) being introduced by the ministry.During the meeting, Chairman Thapa said that NADA has taken positively the proposal of the government to implement Euro 6 in all vehicles and means of transportation. However, NADA has stated that it has requested for development of required infrastructures before the implementation of the new emission norm.Similarly, a delegation led by NADA's Vice-Chairman Rajan Babu Shrestha met the Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank, Maha Prasad Adhikari and handed over a letter regarding the recent capital loan directives. During the meeting, Vice-Chairman Shrestha requested the banks to increase the current limit of 50 per cent to 80 per cent for the import of passenger cars.In the recent directive issued by the Nepal Rastra Bank, the minimum margin limit has been increased from 10 percent to 50 percent when issuing the LC import of vehicles. He requested to continue the provision of maintaining the minimum margin limit of 10 percent. In this regard, Vice-Chairman Shrestha also requested the banks to provide interest to the businessmen on the amount pledged for margin.NADA's delegation also met with Director General of the Customs Department, Narayan Prasad Sapkota, to discuss the issues related to customs valuation, and customs procedures. The delegation also met with the Director General of the Inland Revenue Department, Shobha Kant Poudel, and discussed various issues including conducting training on taxation and billing of sales.NADA has been intensifying meetings and discussions with its respective ministries and departments since January this year. In this context, the NADA delegation also met Prem Kumar Shrestha, Director General of the Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Affairs, and discussed the arrangement of importing automobile items only by authorized sellers including agency, firm registration and renewal. The delegation also met with Ram Chandra Tiwari, Director General of the Department of Industry, to discuss about the establishment of vehicle assembly plant in Nepal, its process and interpretation.In this context, the NADA delegation met with the Director General of the Revenue Research Department, Prakash Poudel, to discuss ways to motivate clean businesses in Nepal, to facilitate the entrepreneurs and to support the department for future training programs.Similarly, the NADA delegation met with the Director General of the Department of Transport Management, Namaraj Ghimire, on January 22, 2022. On the same day, a delegation of NADA had a detailed discussion with Chief of Metropolitan Traffic Police Umesh Raj Joshi to discuss the bilateral relations between the two organizations.
